  5. Christie Engel says:

I am in total shock. Congratulations Nick!!! You are an inspiration!

  6. Dave says:

Congrats! I see that they have put up a new sign since I hit the summit a decade ago. Like you, I was lucky enough to suffer no ill effects from the altitude; makes for a much more enjoyable experience! I saw colors of vomit and poop on that trip that no human should ever produce.

Check out Kilian Jornet’s video from running up Kilimanjaro. No pole pole for Kilian – he went from base to summit and back down in 7 hours! Having climbed the mountain, I’m sure you can appreciate how incredible an achievement that is.

  7. Lee Daniels says:

Congratulations Nick! What’s next on your bucket list?

  8. Kami says:

Alright, no more excuses. 1 ½ years ago, I went to Tanzania for a month for a study abroad program through UofD and I’ve been itching to go back ever since. Best time of my LIFE. After I graduate, I’m goin back. And climbin Killi sounds like a pretty sick goal. If Nick Mcilwain can do it surely I can!
oh ya, the locals liked to tell us clumsy mzungus to polé polé too. ha, good times, good times.
